Due to the holiday the next club meeting will be July 11, 2011 at the Brookland Fire Station at Goobertown. From Jonesboro take Highway 49 towards Paragould. On the northside of Brookland at Goobertown take County Road 792 and go about 0.25 miles and the Fire Station is on the right. Start time is 7 pm, following the monthly meeting there will be a board of directors meeting.

Hey Everyone,

First, I want to thank those that attended our regional meeting this past Saturday. I think we made some very important strides in managing our duck problems. As a review, and for those that did not make it, here is a recap of what we covered and our plan of action.

1.) Marty Davis and Larry Wade did their homework as to what is going on with the AG&FC code as it applies to the health requirements for captive ducks. Marty and Jay Chesshir are going to follow-up with Luke Naylor (AG&FC, who by the way did not attend) and review what the code actually says and ask that we get a temporary extension on the health certificate from 60 days to 90 days. We feel if we get this extension it will get every club through a hunt test season. They will also seek to have that requirement waived based on newly discovered facts.

2.) It was decided that the clubs of Region 9 and Central Arkansas would form a Co-op to buy ducks from a single breeder. Individual clubs can choose not to participate if they wish. It is our hope that we can negotiate a better price, plus have only one health test administered for everyone’s ducks. We agreed we would each contribute a deposit, as-well-as split the cost of buying the testing kit for the ducks. We think that cost will be around $300 to test up to 60 ducks.

3.) Mark Miles has agreed to head up the co-op and is currently looking for a breeder who will agree to provide ducks for the entire group. The one thing we are still working out is the shipping. We may negotiate for delivery to one central location or decide each club is on their own as to the expense of delivery.

Everyone felt the meeting was very productive and I will try and keep all of you abreast of what is happening. Included is a list of everyone that is on my DUCK CO-OP LIST:

About Us

The L'Anguille River Hunting Retriever Club is affiliated with the Hunting Retriever Club (HRC) in conjunction with the United Kennel Club (UKC).  Our club is based in Jonesboro which is in the Northeast part of Arkansas and in the heart of duck country.  The majority of our membership are waterfowlers who are wanting the best retriever as possible.  The L'Anguille River Hunting Retriever Club is a family oriented club who puts on at least one licensed hunt per year.  Our hunts have a standard which is set by the HRC and points are awarded for passing and when accumulating the correct amount of points those handler/dog teams earn a title at that level.

During the off season, L'Anguille River Hunting Retriever Club conducts training days to help our newest member to our oldest member.

On the first Monday of every month at 7 pm, L'Anguille River Hunting Retriever Club conducts a meeting with an occasional seminar at 500 CR 792 in Brookland, AR.

So if your intersted in becoming a member of L'Anguille River Hunting Retriever Club  then come on out and join us or feel free to email us at info@languilleriverhrc.com and remember "Our Season Never Ends".
